Cultural identity monitoring is an important aspect of General Practice. When you visit Central Gippsland Family Practice, you may be asked to complete a patient registration form at the reception desk. This form includes questions about your ethnic group and/or cultural identity. Everyone belongs to a group, so all patients are asked to describe the ethnic group with which they identify.
We provide services to a diverse, multi-cultural community, and we ask patients about their language needs to ensure effective communication. Collecting ethnic data helps us to better understand the needs of patients from different groups and enables our doctors to provide more appropriate and personalised care.
Ethnic data is also used to identify patients who may be at higher risk of certain conditions, as some groups are more susceptible to specific diseases. This information allows our staff to ensure you can access the services you need and helps us understand your individual requirements more effectively.
